Cookie and Browser Storage Notice
This Notice explains browser storage used by Rook LLC (“Rook”) on rooksync.com, in the dashboard, and by Rook’s website chat widget. Read it with our Privacy Policy at https://rooksync.com/privacy.
1. What Rook uses
Rook does not currently set cookies. It uses browser local storage for sign-in sessions, dashboard display preferences and a random website-chat session identifier. Local storage can remain in your browser after a tab closes. Conversation messages are stored on Rook's servers, not in the chat widget's browser storage.
Rook does not use advertising cookies or pixels, cross-site trackers, third-party analytics tools, or session replay. Separately, we keep limited service and security records, including payment-link openings where enabled, as described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Storage purposes and duration
| Browser storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Maintains your authenticated dashboard session. | Until sign-out or removal through browser settings; authentication validity follows the configured session settings. |
| Dashboard display preferences | Remembers choices such as the last tab opened. | Until changed or removed by Rook or cleared through browser settings. |
| Random chat session identifier | Associates the browser with a chat session without storing the conversation in the browser. | Session expires after three days of inactivity. Expiry is enforced by Rook; browser storage may remain until removed by Rook or cleared through browser settings. |
3. Website chat and other providers
The chat widget stores only a random session identifier in your browser. Chat messages are stored on Rook's servers and processed for the business you contact. The identifier expires after three days of inactivity; expiration or clearing browser storage does not delete messages held by Rook or the business. Server records follow the Privacy Policy's retention and deletion rules.
A business’s website may use its own cookies or tracking tools. External payment pages, provider sign-in pages, and any embedded third-party features may use their own browser storage under their privacy notices and applicable consent requirements.
4. Your controls
You can remove local storage by clearing site data in your browser or block it through browser settings. Clearing cookies alone may not remove local storage. Blocking or deleting storage may sign you out or prevent the dashboard or chat from working properly.
5. Updates and contact
We update this Notice when our storage practices change. Before introducing optional technologies, we will provide the required disclosures and obtain consent or offer controls where applicable law requires.
